Its predecessor is the Department of Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Orthopedic established in the ‘80s. In 1987 it started to enroll graduates, in 2006 got model accredited graduate program of Jiangxi province and in 2008 was granted college characteristic specialty by the Ministry of Education. The school has excellent academic and research basis with directions such as application law and mechanism of Re Min Jiu (the rmosensitive moxibustion), laws of acupoint thermosensitivity and its clinical application.
The school now has 29 teachers: 2 postgraduate supervisors, 13 graduate supervisors, 9 professors, 6 associate professors, 7 teachers with doctor’s degrees,7 lecturers (attending physician).52% of them have high academic titles and 24%have doctor’s degrees.
In the past five years, they have published 105 articles(19 of which are included in SCI)and 6 academic works. The college won respectively in 2007 the First Prize of Jiangxi Scientific and Technological Progress and in 2008 the Second Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of China Acupuncture and Moxibustion Association.
In 2013 the project “Infrared Testing Technology of Acupoint Thermosensitivity and Its Clinical Application” won another First Prize of Jiangxi Scientific and Technological Progress. The article “Qi Arrival Ensuring Clinical Effects Does Matter in Moxibustion Treatment” by professor Chen Rixin in 2012 ranked among the most influential academic articles in China. His Practical Book of Re Min Jiu(Thermosensitive Moxibustion), published by the People’s Medical Publishing House in 2009, was translated into English and Japanese in 2013.
In the past five years teachers in the school have been responsible for 30 scientific research projects with the total funds of 7830,000 Yuan: one 973 Program, one National 11th "Five-Year" Technology Support Program and 4 Nature Science Foundation Projects.
